Nikita, an 11-year-old from a small village in Raigad, was diagnosed with bone cancer in her right leg. Doctors had advised amputation at the hip, and her parents were daily wage labourers, couldn’t afford the treatment. But further evaluation revealed her leg and life could be saved with aggressive care.PEHL stepped in – arranging funds, coordinating treatment, supporting the family and even adjusting her chemo schedule so she could attend her village ‘Mela’.After six cycles of chemotherapy and limb-saving surgery, Nikita made a remarkable recovery. We are happy to report that Nikita is entirely cancer-free. She is walking normally and playing like any other child her age and continues to live an active, joyful life.
