Project Sankalp

Supplementary Education for Destitute Homes and Urban Slums

Project Sankalp is PEHL’s initiative to support children from destitute homes and underserved urban communities with structured academic guidance, emotional support, and engaging co-curricular learning. Our goal is to bridge educational gaps and help every child build a brighter, more confident future.

Education for Underprivileged Children

Project Sankalp brings structured academic support to children living in government-run destitute homes and urban slums. We currently run supplementary education programs at Bal Kalyan Nagari, Mumbai and Rajkiya Balika/Bal Grah, Lucknow, reaching children from 6th to 12th standard. Our team of dedicated teachers works closely with the school curriculum to help bridge learning gaps and boost performance in subjects like Maths, Science, English, and Social Studies.

Counselling Services

Understanding the emotional needs of children from vulnerable backgrounds is central to our work. At Bal Kalyan Nagari, a trained counsellor supports students through one-on-one and group counselling, helping them cope with trauma, behavioural challenges, and academic pressure. We also maintain regular coordination with schoolteachers to ensure holistic development of every child.

Activity-Based Learning

Learning goes beyond textbooks in Project Sankalp. Our centres integrate arts, crafts, storytelling, games, and festival celebrations to encourage creativity, confidence, and self-expression. From Diya decoration to science model making, Rakhi creation to yoga sessions, each activity is designed to make education joyful and experiential for the children.

Educational Support for Children

Many of our children come from disrupted or non-schooling backgrounds. We provide individualised academic attention, working with both school-going and non-school groups to build foundational skills and subject proficiency. Our programs have led to tangible results, three girls at Balika Grah, Lucknow scored first division in their Class 10 board exams this year, a milestone that reflects the difference sustained support can make. We also got a 92% pass percentage at Bal Kalyan Nagari at Mumbai for 10th grade board exams for 2024-25, which showcase our commitment towards these underprivileged girls.
