  • Child Safety Program for Students of Std. IX at Shivaji Vidyalaya

The Child Abuse Awareness Workshop at Shivaji Vidyalaya, Mumbai was a huge success. Around 125 students participated. Children were very receptive to the case discussions and interactions were planned and were effective!

December 2014

  • Wheelchairs donated at Lucknow

Wheelchairs were donated to the severely challenged children identified at the urban disability camp. Other support continues like physiotherapy, teaching and improving communication and self confidence.

  • Christmas celebrations at Bal Kalyan Nagari 

40 Children across Std. 8-10 from St. Gregorios School visited the home to celebrate Christmas by singing carols and playing games and distributing presents. There were refreshments at the end of the festivities and the children got along really well and had an enjoyable time together.

  • Follow up camp for the urban disability project, LKO

Interestingly now the results are showing, and two of the children identified and undergoing therapy have started walking and another one talks. More intensive work on a traumatic quadriplegic is being done.

  • Flower making at bal grih, Lucknow

The teachers from PEHL worked with the children on teaching them to make flowers from various materials. We look forward to displaying these special arts and crafts in an exhibition soon.

  • Child Sexual Abuse awareness workshop for parents & teachers at Shivaji VIdyalaya

A Child Safety Program has been started at a school in Mumbai with 2000 students across English, Hindi, Marathi and Urdu medium sections. Sensitizing parents and teachers is the first step. A workshop for paretns was held and pre and post assessment shows that there was a significant increase in awareness as a result of the workshop.

November

  • Creative workshop at Additional Home, Mankhurd

An arts and crafts bbased workshop was held at this home for the girls teaching them to make different types of decor and rangolis for the festive season.

  • Children’s day celebration at Bal Grih (Boys) , LKO 

Children danced on Bollywood songs, received many gifts, cut a Mickey mouse cake and got to watch a Magic show! They had a lot of fun thanks to the staff at PEHL and Bal Grih.

  • Distribution of uniforms for boys at Bal Grih, LKO

Special sets of new clothes were brought all the way to Lucknow to be districuted to the boys at the Home so they would have better clothing to wear on a daily basis.

  • Positive Parenting workshop at Little Millenium, LKO 

This workshop was held to benefit the parents of young children. A lot of interesting insights were discovered and the parents participated enthusiastically, llearning from each other’s experiences.

October

  • Fundraiser concert – Music with a Cause (Mumbai)

Many of PEHL’s Patrons for turned up in large numbers and contributed for our first Fundraiser on the occasion of our third anniversary on 19th October 14 Sunday at Ravindra Natya Mandir (Dadar, Mumbai). The musical group Leherein led by Nandu Kerkar’s orchestra, put up an amazing performance of old Bollywood classic songs that will linger in the memories of all who were present.

  • Urban Disability Camp, LKO

Regular follow ups are being conducted at this camp which involves screening and a home based structured approach. Home programs for speech and parental education were the highlights of this visit.

September

  • Eye Camp at MDCH, Mankhurd

IMA Chembur in association with PEHL, organized an Eye Illness Detection Camp at the Mentally Deficient Childrens Home, Mankhurd, which is the largest such home in India, on Sunday the 21st of September 2014. Over 150 inmates were examined and appropriate treatment including medicines was administered free of charge. Further treatment is being planned for those inmates who require surgical intervention.

August

  • Rakhi making and Raksha Bandhan celebrations at Bal Grih(boys) LKO

Workshops were held with the children in making rakhis followed by a fun event in tying the rakhi and celebrating raksha bandhan. This marks a new and positive relationship between PEHL and Rajkiya Bal Grih.

May

  • Summer camp at Bal Kalyan Nagari, Mumbai

A lot of fun activities were held like playing games, forming puzzles and making objects via arts and crafts. The children learned new creative skills and enjoyed a changed from their academic routine.
